Special Needs Kitten Cecilia Finds the Purr-Fect Home, from Peninsula Humane Society/SPCA

Cecilia arrived at PHS/SPCA when she was just 5 weeks old. During her examination, the veterinary staff noticed that her pupils were unusually dilated, sent her to a vision specialist, and discovered that her retina wasn’t functioning properly. She was a special needs kitten who had been blind since birth.
The veterinary and behavioral staff could see that she had adapted quite well to not having sight and believed she could live a very happy life at home with the right family. Once she adjusted to her new environment, she would be able to move about just like other cats. Other than remaining indoors to ensure her safety, no other special requirements would be needed. She was not in pain and didn’t require medication for her condition. She was just a happy and curious kitty who needed a loving home.
Cecilia Meets Her New Family

As soon as Cecilia was made available for adoption, it didn’t take long for her new mom, Rosemary, to meet and fall in love with her. She decided to adopt two kittens and the adoption counselor helped her find just the right match ─ a confident kitty who could bond with Cecilia and show her the ropes.
And just like that, two very lucky kittens ─ Cecilia and Marci ─ went home to start their new lives together.
Cecilia Gets a Helping Hand
Marci and Cecilia started cuddling and playing together right away. Even though Marci was still just a small kitten, she was able to sense when Cecilia needed her, and she began making certain sounds to help Cecilia find things like scratching posts, toys, their special rug, and their litter box. Whenever Cecilia needed Marci, she made her own special sound and Marci came running. Cecilia has just naturally followed Marci’s lead, as they live their "best kitten lives" playing and snoozing together.
Such lucky kitties to have found each other. And yes, small miracles still happen every day.
"I’m so happy and so are they,” Rosemary says.

Thanks to all the donors who help PHS/SPCA provide special care for animals like Cecilia. Their generosity enables us to find loving homes for pets who otherwise might not have the second chance they deserve.
